Help with TheOneConvert
Version 1.0 is the current App Store release. The Home, Watch, and Apple Intelligence guidance below is for the incoming 2.0 candidate and is not yet publicly available.
1. Getting started in version 1.0
- Choose Add Article in the library sidebar.
- Paste an article URL.
- Choose Convert.
If the article address omits http:// or https://, TheOneConvert tries https:// before opening it.
2. Reader, notebook, and navigation
- Switch between Converted and Raw modes, and use the top Save button to keep a previewed chapter in the library.
- Select text in the reader and use the highlighter button to save a source-linked notebook excerpt.
- On iPhone and iPad, volume up moves to the previous chapter and volume down moves to the next chapter when available.
- On Mac, left and right arrow keys—and supported mouse back and forward buttons—navigate chapters.
3. Themes, export, and optional iCloud
Reader Style controls the Converted reader independently. In the incoming 2.0 candidate, Library Tools also offers Aurora, Paper, or Signal with separate Auto, Light, and Dark appearance.
Export supports Markdown, TXT, HTML, PDF, and EPUB. On first export, choose a folder; the app remembers your last selected export folder. Optional iCloud sync uses your Apple ID to sync the saved library and can be disabled.
4. Coming in 2.0: Apple Intelligence summaries
On supported devices, the sparkles menu can summarize the current reader page or selected text with Apple's on-device Foundation Models capability. The app explains when the system capability is unavailable or still preparing. No reader text is sent to a developer-operated AI service, and nothing is stored unless you explicitly save the summary to the notebook.
5. Coming in 2.0: Watch and saved sites
Watch starts without a bundled or remembered website. Enter a website you are authorized to use, choose a local Favorite, or reopen a History item.
- Standard uses persistent WebKit website data and keeps local, normalized History capped at 500 completed visits.
- Favorites and History support opening entries and category-scoped single, selected, and delete-all actions; Favorites can also be renamed.
- Clear Website Data removes Standard cookies, caches, and local storage without deleting Favorites or History.
- Incognito uses a separate non-persistent WebKit session, adds no History, and destroys the session on exit.
- A Favorite you explicitly save in Incognito persists locally; the visit and Incognito website data do not.
6. Coming in 2.0: compatible native playback
Start playback with the website's controls. WebKit owns discovery, sign-in, sessions, cookies, and provider controls. If the active page exposes an eligible direct HTTP(S) HLS or MP4 source, TheOneConvert can pass that URL in memory to Apple's native player. Unsupported, cookie-bound, DRM-protected, and hidden streams remain in the website player.
- Eligible native playback includes AirPlay, Picture in Picture, background and lock-screen continuation, Automatic, 1080p, and 720p quality limits, reported resolution, and exact time jumps.
- Skip Ads is optional, defaults off, applies only to short finite segments, and stops at a consecutive-skip safety limit.
- Leaving the player, Watch, another workspace, All Workspaces, or the app window stops website and native playback and its related playback state.
Direct media URLs are not persisted. The app does not download, proxy, convert, save, import, or add website video to the article library. Use only websites and content you are authorized to play.
7. Privacy and the online converter
The try-online converter is a separate server-processed web demo; it does not provide the native app's local library or notebook. Review the privacy policy for the complete native-app, Watch, iCloud, Apple Intelligence, website, and demo boundaries.
